“MY AFRICA” HIMBA THROW

The HIMBA THROW is a unique collaboration between Aranda textiles mill and Pattern & product Designer Glorinah Khutso Mabaso of Renaissance Design, under their ‘MY AFRICA’ brand. It marks the first of it’s kind and Glorinah is the first designer to present her pattern translation in the form of a jacquard woven throw.

People of the Himba tribe of Namibia are a semi-nomadic tribe. The desert is their home and their unique way of life has been shaped by this environment. They are widely known for their “red” appearance. This distinctive look is created through their application of otjize, a mixture of butterfat and ochre pigment which is applied to the skin and hair. Otjize is symbolic of the earth’s rich red colour, as well as blood, the essence of life. Carrying a rich heritage.

This high quality throw signifies craftsmanship and proud cultural tradition, beautifully woven together to bring you an authentic

connection to your own African story.

The throw is slipped into a white branded cotton pouch, with a thank you card
depicting an image of the throw and our details.

We have a flat fee of R99 calculated at check-out Delivery in Gauteng within 3-5
working days. Once your order has been sent through you will receive a notification via email with
tracking details of your order and when you should be receiving it.
